Carli Sukonik Receives Strohl Senior Thesis Grant

Girdler Gallery

Carli Sukonik is a recipient of a Strohl Senior Thesis grant to complete her photography exhibition which opened on December 5, 2014 in the Girdler Gallery. Her thesis centers on Philadelphia during those rare times of day when only one or two people can be seen in a wide angle street scene. Her ability to see line, sharp angles, light and shadow in order to take an ordinary environment and render it extraordinary is remarkable. Carli’s long depth of field coupled with her eye for geometry are part of her unique vision. Titled “Looking is not Seeing” Carli’s thesis exhibition invites the viewer to see beyond the object and “view the photographs in terms of value structure as the composing element.”
